Schengen Visa Fees to be Increased

Tourists traveling to Europe will have to pay more Schengen visa fees starting from this year-end. The EU Council and Parliament have given the go-ahead to amend the Schengen Visa fees from 60 Euro to 80 Euro. Now the resolution has been forwarded to the Commission. Now that the Parliament has adopted this resolution, it remains for the council to provide a go-ahead for the same before this is made officially published in the Journal of the European Union. Once this is done it’ll take around six months to come in effect.

The new EU Visa Code aims to simplify the Schengen Visa application procedure for tourists applying for a short-stay visa.

“Schengen Visa Fees to be Increased"

“The main objective of the reform is to facilitate legitimate travel for tourism, trade, and business while inhibiting irregular immigration and contribute to internal security. Processes for Bona Fide travelers will be simpler, and there will be a direct link between Visa and Migration Policy “.

With these changes, the tourist can now apply six months prior to their travel, unlike now, which is three months at the earliest. The latest ones can still apply 15 days prior to their planned trip. Moreover, Seafarers will be permitted to apply for nine months in advance.

In these non-EU countries where they do not exist or do not represent any other country, EU member states force them to work with external service providers for visa entry. Multiple-entry visas will often be available to travelers in the Schengen Zone, and additional facilities will be available for well-known artists and high performing athletes in the European Union. Moreover, there is a possibility of visa fee reduction for travelers under the age of 18.

Schengen Visa is the most popular visa among tourists, attracting millions for tourists each year. The most popular countries being France, Spain, Italy, Turkey, Germany, Austria, Greece, Russia, and Portugal among others.
